GEORGE III, King of England ]. Engraved ticket for the Coronation ceremony of George III in Westminster Abbey, engraved by George Bi ckham, 22 September 1761. 1 page, 4to (11 x 9½ in.), slight soiling, minor tears to top edge , otherwise in good condition.

Engraved ticket for the Coronation ceremony of George III in Westminster Abbey, engraved by George Bi ckham, 22 September 1761. 1 page, 4to (11 x 9½ in.), slight soiling, minor tears to top edge , otherwise in good condition. AN OFFICIAL TICKET TO THE CORONATION OF GEORGE III. An elaborately engraved invitation, accomplished in manuscript and signed by two officials. Most of the sheet is filled with a large depiction of the ceremony, with crowned King and Queen, under a vaulted dome in Westminster Abbey, surrounded by angels blowing a trumpet and offering a beribboned laurel wreath, in the foreground are other allegorical figures and a rolled parchment labeled "Magna Carta," while a panoply of ermine-robed dignitaries and spectators view the ceremony from galleries; gilt armorial seal embossed in a special area at top left. In the blank margin is written "First Gallery Southside Arch [blank] Row [blank] Seat [blank]." Signed at bottom by George Wyatt and Jonathan Jordan, numbered in left-hand margin "No.1702." Rare.
