Puss in Boots Author: Cruikshank, George Place London Publisher: George Bell and Sons Date: 1885 Description: [2], 8, [2], 101 pp. Illustrated with 38 plates printed in sepia on india paper and mounted. 8½x6½, half morocco and cloth, spine gilt, top edge gilt. One of 500 copies. According to the colophon, these plates were re-touched under Cruikshank's direction shortly before his death, and were note used prior to this edition. Also, in previous editions they were published in only lithographic transfers. Bookplates of James Manfield and of Emmet C. May. Lot Amendments Condition: Rebacked with original spine laid down and spine a little sunned; a little fingersoiling to preliminaries, very few scattered spots, one text leaf with repaired marginal tear; near fine.
