Munby (bookplate, his sale Sotheby's London 22 March 1976, lot 176). FIRST EDITION. Besterman 4420; Wing G-454. GEE. The present State of the Controversie between the Church of England and the Church of Rome; or, an Account of the Books written on both sides. In a Letter to a Friend. London: T. Basset, J. Adamson, T. Newborough, 1687. 4 o (190 x 150 mm). (Title page reinfored along inner margin, disbound.) Cloth folding case. Not in Wing. Gee played a prominent part in the "popish controversy" towards the end of James II's reign. (2)
