FREUD, Sigmund. Autograph note signed ("Freud") to "Lieber Herr Doktor" (the contributors to a festschrift in his honor), Vienna, 12 September 1934. 2 pages, boldly penned in dark blue ink on an oblong card bearing Freud's well-known Berggasse 19 address, ink on verso slightly pale, matted with 4 identical examples of the printed facsimile version of the card, which was evidently sent as a circular to contributors. Freud thanks those who contributed to a festschrift: "As I am in the process of looking through the Congress album again, I recall that I have not thanked you for your work on the beautiful souvenir and I herewith make up for this in a formal and celebratory way. Cordially yours, Freud." It was Freud's habit to order printed copies of such notes in acknowledgement of favors or salutations.
