French polished brass and champleve mantel clock Print Fourth quarter 19th century, three-train, five-gong movement apparently unmarked, the stepped outset polished brass top over a serpentine-outline green and pink champleve-enameled scrolling foliate frieze, raised on similarly enameled Corinthian columns before a glazed rectangular case housing the circular gold-toned face with applied white enameled cartouches containing black Roman numeral hour markers, with subsidiary dials for Chime/Silent and Gong/Stop within an enameled scrolling foliate surround, raised on a stepped rectangular plinth, on bracket feet, 17.875'' H x 12.75'' W x 10.125'' D, Provenance: Private Collection, Laguna Beach, CA. Condition: Overall good condition, with scattered minor scratches, wear and nicks commensurate with age. A few minor shallow dings to top. Beveled glazed panels with scattered nicks and chips at edges; the largest approximately .25'' x .25'' to lower right corner of door panel. Nicks and losses to enamel around winding apertures. Working condition unknown; Moran's does not guarantee working condition of clocks or watches.
