FRENCH POETRY-RENAISSANCE] BELLAY, JOACHIM DU. Les oevvres Francoises. Reueuës, & de nouueau augmentees de plusieurs poësies non encores auparauant imprimees . Rouen: G. l'Oyselet, 1592. 19th century brown morocco, all edges red, marbled endpapers. 5 3/8 x 3 1/8 (13.5 x 8 cm); [12], 583 (i.e. 579), [1] ff., 205-224, 249-256 omitted, nos. 227-238, 433-436, 459-468 repeated, collating á^(12) A-3B^(12) 3C^(6). A few leaves underinked but fully legible, in general a fine fresh copy with good margins. Edited by G. Aubert, this is an early collected edition of the great French Renaissance poet (1522 - 1 January 1560). He was a friend of Ronsard (who he first met at an inn on the way to Poitiers), and with him and Jean-Antoine de Baïf was a member of the constellation of poets known as the Pléiade. This edition appears far rarer in commerce than the Rouen edition of 1597. We trace one copy at auction in recent years, and that imperfect. C
