The Daudet is noteworthy as the basis for Bizet's opera of the same title. The works of Maynard are fascinating travel accounts (that of Delhi is fictional), written by the surgeon of a French whaling ship, and edited by Dumas Pere. The first Maynard volume is Sabin 47163.
