An extremely fine and rare, historically interesting 18K gold and enamel hunter case keyless lever watch with Guillaume balance and Bulletin de Marche, presented to the French President Armand Fallieres Commissioned by the Syndicate of Besançon Watchmaking Industry, the movement made by Lipmann Freres, the case signed L. Hatot, manufactured in 1910 The gilt-finished fully jewelled lever movement hand-stamped with the "Viper's Head", Guillaume balance with gold poising screws, the gold cuvette with engraved presentation inscription Chronomètre No. 78565 avec Bulletin de 1ère Classe de l'Observatoire National de Besançon Medaille d'Or - Souvenir de la Fabrique de l'Horlogerie de Besançon à Mr. le Président de la République à l'occasion de sa visite 14 Août 1910 , the white enamel dial with Breguet numerals, subsidiary seconds, the massive circular case finely enamelled in shades of translucent blue, blue cloisonné and opaque blue enamel, surmounted by opaque white enamel festoons, the front centred by the President's initials AF , surrounded by four gold and opaque white enamel medallions representing the symbol of the French Republic, fasces and oak branches to the top, to the bottom the symbol of Justice, a balance, symbols of Power and Glory, an oak branch and a laurel wreath to the sides, the back centred by the emblem of the city of Besançon, surrounded by trophies of Music, Drama, Literature and Painting, signed L. Hatot , the band, pendant and bow with finely chased and engraved laurel wreath decoration, case numbered 59 mm. diam.
