Philadelphia: B. Franklin and D. Hall, [printed c. 1750]. 1 p., broadsheet (263 x 226 mm). The upper half accomplished in manuscript. Unbound. Housed in a morocco-backed cloth case. Condition : minor staining, a few separations at folds. rare complete franklin-printed bill of lading, with both halves intact. “Franklin usually printed these bills of lading in duplicate form on a sheet of post paper. Since one copy was retained by the shipper and the other sent along with the goods being shipped, these bills have almost invariably been preserved as single forms” (Miller 184, for a 1739-1747/48 form, i.e. before Franklin’s partnership with Hall). This bill was issued to Philadelphia merchants Henry Harrison and Samuel Sansom for the shipment of flour, wine, staves and shingles to Kingston, Jamaica aboard the ship Liverpool, John Walker master. It is dated in manuscript 23 August 1756.
