FRANKISH SILVER-GILT SQUARE-HEADED BROOCH PAIR WITH GARNETS Early 6th century AD A matched pair of bow brooches, each with rectangular headplate, three-ribbed bow, lozengiform footplate with horse-head lappets at the shoulder, scrolled design flanking the median rib, piriform finial; garnet cloison to the headplate and footplate finial of each; pin-lugs and catchplate to the reverse. 45 grams total, 85 mm (3 1/4").
