Frank Leslie's Illustrated Historical Record of the Centennial Exposition 1876. Vol. 1, Nos. 1-10. 16.25 x 11.5 in. Features the same illustrated cover of lady Liberty showing two other mythical female features views of the United States with two American Indians at her feet. Held in Philadelphia, the Centennial Exposition of 1876 had over 30,000 exhibits from the "Arts, Manufactures and Products of the Soil and Mine." Almost every nation in the world at that time created their own exhibits for the show. Exhibits of note included the Smithsonian Institution's displays of exotic wild life and the 300 Native Americans from 53 tribes brought to the Expo, who camped on the Centennial grounds. Nearly 10 million people visited the exposition. Condition: Foxing, light soiling, and wear and partial separation at the spines. No. 2 missing the front cover.
