3 (of 12) fascicles, each with 3 original mounted albumen photographs, for a total of 9 (nine) photographs; plus accompanying text leaves and protective interleaves. Photographs measure approx. 16x22.5 cm (6¼x8¾") or reverse. Fascicles are 45x33 cm (17¾x13"), loose in printed wrappers, as issued. Three original fascicles, Nos. 7, 9 and 10, containing nine albumen photographs taken on Francis Frith's photographic excursion in northern, i.e. lower, Egypt and Thebes. Most of the photographs are of major archaeological sites at Thebes. The work was originally issued in twelve fascicles, or parts, each containing three photographs, with a 37th photograph on the added title page supplied with the last part. They were usually bound together, often in two volumes, and unbound examples of the fascicles are rare.
