France 1849-50 First Issue First-Issue First Day Cover 20c. black, a lovely example with good margins, neat impression, tied by Marcilly-Le-Hayer small c.d.s. on the first day of issue, 1st January 1849, with an additional strike at left on entire letter to Port-à-Binson, dated on the same day, backstamped in transit and receipt; slight tone spots, closed tears below the stamp and the postmark and two portions of paper loss in centre, still a fine and rare usage on the first day of French franked philately.
