Beschreibung:

Collection of leaf fragments, letters, and sections of manuscripts - mussar and halachic compositions, Midrashim and Bible translations, Mishnayot and Talmud, prayers and siddurim, song books and piyyutim, amulets and segulot [Yemen and Oriental countries, various times - 17th century until the 20th century]. Among the sections of the Midrashim in the collection: · Three sections of leaves from Midrash HaBe'ur by Rabbi Se'adya son of David called Aldamari. Parshat Vayera, Parshat Ki Tisa and a section of the Haftarah of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. · Section from Midrash Ma'ase B'Rav Kahana U'Slik Beno - [cited in Batei Midrashot Part 1 Page 307]. · Large leaf from an unknown Midrash with the tale of a king who gave his son all the keys to the palace with the exception of the key to one door and another tale. · Binding Geniza - evidently a Midrash in Arabic. · Section of Midrash Tehillim Chapter 2. · Page of Pesikta Rabati, Parsha 37. · 4 leaves of Pirkei D'Rabbi Eliezer Chapters 28, 29 and 36. · Leaf of Midrash HaChefetz Parshat Bereshit. · Last leaf of Midrash HaGadol, Parshat V'Zot HaBeracha. With scribe's colophon erroneously dated: "…This Midrash with G-d's help, Wednesday, 12th day of the month of Av should change to joy and happiness 1252…Aharon son of Shlomo son of Chalfon son of Avigad Altvili". [An erasure on the date of the colophon can be discerned, but another owner's colophon in a different writing appears on the same page with the date "The month of Tishrei 1281". This is not viable since the scribe who signed the colophon, "Aharon son of Shlomo Tvili" lived in 1644. (See enclosed photocopy from the Encyclopedia L'Chachmei Teiman, p. 186). It is more conceivable that the manuscript was written in c. 1652, and the second colophon is from 1681]. Letters and remnants of shtarot, including several items, which apparently originate from other places in Oriental countries: · A section of a shtar dated: "Tuesday, 8th of Iyar, 1629. · Part of a leaf from a calendar with calligraphic signatures of Rabbi "Shlomo son of A[Avraham?] Laniado" and Rabbi "Shimon Mizrachi". 47 items. Size and condition vary. Provenance: The Sassoon family collection.
