Four Hammered Gold, Yellow Sapphire, Sapphire, Garnet, Diamond and Simulated Diamond Serpent Brooches and Rings The brooches centering one oval yellow sapphire approximately 14.75 cts., one oval sapphire approximately 17.15 cts., the rings centering one oval sapphire approximately 13.50 cts., and one oval zircon, accented by 2 old-mine cut diamonds and 6 simulated diamonds, approximately 82.5 dwts. Sizes 6 1/4 and 7 1/4. By repute these brooches and rings were created from a pair of cufflinks once owned by famed Gilded Age financier and philanthropist "Diamond Jim" Brady. With GIA report no. 5171316872 stating that the yellow sapphire has no indications of heating. With GIA report no. 2175316866 stating that the sapphire has no indications of heating. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS LOT INCLUDES TWO BROOCHES AND TWO RINGS. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE RING IS SET WITH A ZIRCON, NOT A GROSSULARITE GARNET AS STATED IN THE CATALOGUE. C Estate of Henriette Suhr
Yellow sapphire brooch: bright deep vivid orange-yellow, good color concentration, minor inclusions, light scratch across table, several chips on facet junctions, chip on crown facet by edge, minor abrasions around table edge, several abrasions on pavilion facet junctions, very lively. With GIA report dated September 17, 2015, no indications of heating. Set with 2 simulated diamonds. 1 1/16 x 1 1/2 inches. Sapphire brooch: medium grayish-cornflower blue, window, several near colorless patches, several fingerprint inclusions and minor inclusions, several minor nicks and facet edge abrasions, lively. With GIA report dated September 17, 2015, no indications of heating. Set with 2 simulated diamonds. 1 1/9 x 1 9/16 inch. Sapphire ring: light cornflower blue, scattered small inclusions and fingerprint inclusion, large chip on pavilion, visible to eye, moderately abraded on table edge and facet junctions, slightly visible to eye, several scratches and pitting on table, lively. Diamonds: I-J-SI. 1 1/2 x 1 1/8 inches. Shank added later, solder repair. Drill hole in center of shank by stone. Please note that the ring is set with a zircon, not a grossularite garnet. Zircon: deep yellowish-green, heavily abraded table edge, visible to eye, some abrasions on facet junctions and some pitting, lively. Set with 2 simulated diamonds. 1 1/2 x 1 1/8 inches. Shank added later, solder repair. Drill hole in center of shank by stone. Very nice gold work, bright yellow gold, yellow sapphire brooch with some discoloration.
