SIGNED and INSCRIBED: " Carried on Apollo 14 in Kittyhawk, Edgar Mitchell, LMP ." The flag is displayed on a manuscript display letter from Mitchell, which reads : "This silk state flag of Alabama was flown to the moon aboard the Apollo 14 command module Kittyhawk, January 31 to February 9, 1971 during the third lunar landing at Fra Mauro Alan Shepard, Stuart Roosa and I carried a small group of national and state flags during our mission. I have authenticated that this flag was flown on Apollo 14 and signed on the bottom inside margin. Edgar Mitchell, Capt. USN (ret), Apollo Astronaut.” Silk flag, 4 by 6 inches.
