Title: Flore des Serres et des Jardins de l'Europe: Journal Général d'Horticulture - Volume XIII Author: Van Houtte, Louis Place: Ghent Publisher: Louis van Houtte Date: 1858 Description: 192 pp. 80 color lithograph botanical plates, 18 of which are double-page plates. 24.5x18 cm. (9½x7"), red morocco-backed boards, gilt-lettered spine. Second Edition. This beautiful Belgian periodical was produced between 1845-1880 by Louis Van Houtte, who served as editor, and who owned the largest nursery on the continent. The monthly editions were printed by his own press located in the middle of his gardens. Lot Amendments Condition: Library sticker on spine; library stamp/sticker on top corner of title page, library rubber stamp on verso of many plates (no bleed through and not visible on recto), some light foxing to fore edge of plates and leaves; very good.
