FLEMING, Ian (1908-1964). Three typed letters signed ("Ian Fleming" and one secretarial) to A.C. Spectorsky, regarding publication of his work for Playboy , London, 1962-1964. Together 3¼ pages, 4to and 8vo, on Fleming's office stationery, with editor's notes to Hefner on two . 15 October 1963: "Thank you very much for the issue of Playboy, but I'm afraid I really have no comment to make on Mr. Hefner's piece except to hope that he isn't starting to take life too seriously...In my opinion it would be a sad day if Playboy has to add to its primary duty of entertaining its readers with that of being guardian for the morals of the United States of America -- and mine!" 4 June 1964: "...please be sure that Playboy will, as previously, continue to receive preferential treatment from my pen, and, for your ears only, I recently turned dwon [ sic ] an offer from the Saturday Evening Post for the serialization of my next book on the grounds that I felt morally committed to your periodical..."
