Kellett.) minor edge bruise to WM, good very fine (9) £200-£240 Footnote Cyril Alfred Nowell Snell was born in Plymouth, Devon, on 25 November 1904 and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class on 18 March 1920. He was advanced Ordinary Seaman on 5 October 1922 and Able Seaman on 5 April 1923. He transferred to Supply Assistant on 16 July 1923, and was advanced to Leading Supply Assistant on 8 August 1926, and Supply Petty Officer on 21 December 1933. He served in the surveying ship H.M.S. Herald from 21 February 1936 to 24 August 1938, and was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 28 November 1937. He was advanced Supply Chief Petty Officer on 16 August 1938, and served during the Second World War in H.M.S. Hecla from 26 October 1940 to 8 July 1942; in H.M.S. Tana from 9 July 1942 to 22 September 1944; and then with the landing craft base at Poole, from which, in vessels operating from there, he gained his entitlement to the France and Germany clasp. He was released on 24 October 1945. Sold with copied record of service and other research. Stanley Ager Sanderson was born at Romford, Essex, on 2 January 1901 and joined the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class on 27 January 1919. He was advanced to Stoker 1st Class on 17 March 1919, and to Leading Stoker on 17 August 1926. He left the Royal Navy with the rate of Acting Stoker Petty Officer on 26 January 1931, and joined the Royal Fleet Reserve the following day. He re-joined the Royal Navy as a Stoker 1st Class on 25 March 1936, and was advanced to Stoker Petty Officer the following day. After another spell with the Royal Fleet Reserve between 25 March and 30 August 1939, he re-joined the Royal Navy again, as a Stoker Petty Officer, on 31 August 1939, and served during the Second World War in the minesweeper H.M.S. Kellett from 16 January 1941 to 18 August 1944, and was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 11 May 1942. After subsequent service in the Destroyer H.M.S. Campbell from 4 September 1944 to 2 July 1945, he was released on 8 October 1945. Note: H.M.S. Kellett was the only ship of this name to have ever served in the Royal Navy.
