first edition, first issue, etched throughout, title and 12 plates, all hand-coloured, presentation inscription signed by the author to Robert Keeley with rough watercolour sketch on a leaf of paper bound in before title, original pictorial wrappers bound in (chipped and soiled), short autograph note signed from Robert Keeley mounted to front free endpaper, later full crushed red morocco, g.e., joints a little rubbed, oblong 8vo, 1844. *** A note on front free endpaper reads: "Robert Keeley, the celebrated comic actor, produced a farce founded upon the "Bachelor's Own Book" and played with great success the part of "Innocent Lambskin". This set of plates was presented by George Cruikshank to Keeley and contains an original rough water-colour sketch on the inscription-page; and the plates were doubtless coloured by the artist himself. Keeley also played the principal part in Moncrieff's drama "Tom and Jerry", which was founded on Cruikshank's "Life in London"..."
