FINE BINDING-MARIE THÉRÈSE CHARLOTTE of France] LANTHOIS, ÉTIENNE. Théorie nouvelle de la phthisie pulmonaire . Paris: A. Égron, 1818. Full red long-grain morocco, covers with the gilt arms of Marie Thérèse Charlotte of France, Duchesse d'Angoulême, edged with a broad roll of wreaths and flowers, flat spine in six compartments, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. 7 3/4 x 4 3/4 inches (20 x 12 cm); [10], 373, [3] pp., the work dedicated to the Duchesse d'Angoulême. Some minimal wear, a bright copy, with the bookplate of the bookbinder and bookbinding historian Leon Gruel. Marie Thérèse Charlotte was the elder daughter of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, and was the Dauphine of France, as she was married to Louis Antoine, Duke of Angoulême, the eldest son of the future Charles X. She was technically the Queen of France for thirty minutes in 1830, in the brief time between her father-in-law's abdication and that of her husband. The arms are Olivier 2553. C
