(Fine Art, Antiques & Jewellery, 23rd February 2019) A fine and rare 19th century American walnut longcase clock by H J Pepper of Philadelphia, c.1850, the 12 inch brass dial with silvered chapter ring, engraved black Roman and Arabic numerals, with subsidiary seconds dial and engraved name plate, with pierced brass spandrels, the hood with carved masks and leaves, the shoulders of the case crested with a carved classical nude male and female, the door carved with shells, flowers and leaves, the base with further carved flowers and marks, and supported on bun feet. 230.5 cm high.
