Finden's Landscape Illustrations to Mr. Murray's First Complete and Uniform Edition of The Life and Works of Lord Byron. London: John Murray 1832-34. 24 parts. 4to (237 x 169 mm). 120 plates engraved by Edward and William Finden Publisher's slip at front of part 2, 7 pp publisher's announcements, 13 pp of ads and slips, publisher's announcements and ads on some wrappers. Original buff-colored illustrated wrappers. Custom chemise and slipcase. Some spotting to plates of a few parts, toning to some margins, soiling to wrappers of part 1, wrappers of part 19 loose, wrappers of part 20 detached, back wrapper of part 24 reconstructed with some loss. Provenance: W. James Holt (period ownership inscription inside front wrapper of several parts). FIRST EDITION IN ORIGINAL MONTHLY PARTS. Though the inside of the front wrapper of part 1 states that the work is to be completed in 14 monthly parts, the publisher's 'Address' at the front of parts 17 and 18 announces the extension of the project to 24 parts, so as not "to exclude from the collection numerous subjects of the first beauty and interest." The back wrapper of each part provides a list of illustrations.
