Figure en porcelaine représentant un enfant chinois dansant, Meissen, circa 1926-1933 A Meissen figure of a dancing Chinese boy (Tanzender Chinesenknabe mit Kerzentülle), circa 1926-1933Modelled by Paul Scheurich holding a candle sconce, wearing a white cloak, yellow tunic with purple buttons and tassels, white trousers and purple slippers, on an octagonal base with gilt line band, 16.7cm high, crossed swords mark and dot between the hilts in underglaze-blue, incised model number A 1145, impressed 'Bossierer'numeral 131 and painter's numeral 15 in brownFootnotesExhibited: Meissen, Museum der Meissen Porzellan-Stiftung, Paul Scheurich Porzellangestalter Zeichner Grafiker, 6 March 2020-21 February 2021 The figure of a dancing Chinese boy (see preceding lot) was also produced in two modified versions between 1928 and 1933: one holding a cornucopia (Rafael 1995a, ill. 24 left), and the present model with a candlestick (ill. 24, centre and right), which were painted in at least five different versions, likely without Scheurich's involvement.
