RALPH, DIRECTOR OF THE BUREAU OF ENGRAVING AND PRINTING WITH THE COMPLIMENTS OF THE SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY, WASHINGTON D.C., DECEMBER 21, 1914, (signed in ink), W.G. McAdoo, SECRETARY", and below it a secondary handwritten inscription reads "To J.W. Sullivan, compliments of J.E. Ralph, Director", all except the 100-Dollar back show even aging as a result of acidity in the original mounting, however, according to the 1986 Bowers and Merena catalogue entry the item was expertly restored and stabilised during the early 1980's, a magnificent and rare Federal presentation item
