Printed in Japanese and English. Original orange printed wrappers (some light spotting); cloth folding case. Provenance : James B. Meriwether (ownership inscription on front wrapper dated at Princeton, August 1956). FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING. Faulkner visited Japan in August 1955 for a period of three weeks to attend the summer seminar on American literature at Nagano Prefecture. SCARCE: according to American Book Prices Current , only one copy has appeared at auction in the last thirty years (sold Christie's East, 15 October 1997, lot 186). Massey 792; Petersen A41.1.
