FALLOPPIO, Gabriele (1522-1562). Expositio in librum Galeni De Ossibus huic accesserunt observationes anatomicae eiusdem authoris. Venice: Simoni Galignani de Carrara, 1570. First edition of Falloppio's commentary on Galen's treatise on bones, with additional previously unpublished anatomical observations by the author. The texts were edited by his student Francesco Micino, to whom Falloppio had entrusted a manuscript of the Galen commentary. The anatomical observations, illustrated and of particular interest for being on the anatomy of the major blood vessels, were dictated. Waller 2929; Wellcome 2158. Quarto (208 x 142mm). Woodcut printer's device on title, two smaller woodcut diagrams and one double-page woodcut diagram (a little dustsoiled). Modern carta rustica. Provenance: old ownership inscriptions crossed out on title with some water-staining.
