FIRST EDITION OF THE TRANSLATION from the Greek by ERASMUS and the monk Tyrannius Rufinus or Rufinus of Aquileia (344/345-411), famous as translator of Greek patristic works (many works of Origen are known thanks to his translation). Given 2 month's after Erasmus' death by one of his friend, the editor, author and lawyer Beatus Rhenanus (1485-1547). EARLY POSTINCUNABULUM of the commentaries on the Bible, the dogmatical works (philosophical exposition of catholicism, on the lamentation and exhortation to martydom), the forgeries of writings during Origen's lifetime and the famous polemical work answering Celsius' attacks against Christianism. Origen, from Alexandria (184/184-253/254), considered by Erasmus as the most important theologian, lead an ascetic life and and was a defensor of the apocatastasis or universal salvation.
