Beschreibung:

Paramount, 1938. Black halter neck gown with a crossover bodice covered in black sequins, with a full-length black chiffon skirt, bearing an interior Paramount Pictures label inscribed, "Bonita Barker," in ink (it is possible that Barker wore the gown in a previous Paramount production). Evelyn Keyes had a decades-long career starting in the 1930s and was one of the lucky young women under contract to Paramount to be chosen as one of their "Best Star Bets of 1938," for which she wore this stunning gown in publicity photographs. Of course, this was just a publicity stunt by Paramount, who had her under contract for many B films, but campaigns such as this were often effective in getting starlets noticed by the public. She eventually transcended B status by appearing in the classic, Gone with the Wind (1939), as "Suellen," and she went on to star in many other films. She married three men who were quite famous in their own right, directors John Huston and Charles Vidor and clarinetist Artie Shaw. With a corresponding still. Exhibiting expected age and production wear.
