.45 caliber, 2,5625" octagonal barrel. Brown finish, with walnut grip. Twist steel barrel, engraved frame with foliate motifs, folding trigger, hammer nose with dogs-head motif. Mother-of-pearl inlay in base of wooden grip. Unmarked, except for the mating number 61 found on the frame in the bottom of the barrel. No Belgian proofs, suggesting this may be a French origin. Condition: Good to very good. Metal with a model brownish gray patina, barrel showing majority of its twist pattern, frame with clear engraving. Mechanically functional, fair bore. Folding trigger with a brazed repair at the frame. Grip very good with crisp, feather motif carving at frame and carved embellishments around the base. A much higher quality gun than typically encountered on these inexpensive 19th century self protection pistols.
