Beschreibung:

Sefer Etz Chaim by Rabbi Chaim Vital, with glosses by Rabbi Shalom Sharabi [Rashash]. Saloniki, [1845]. Title page of book contains self-inscription in handwriting and signature “small and simple Eliyahu Paradis”. Throughout leaves of book Kabbalistic glosses in Oriental handwriting from several writers [some cut off]. It is possible that some of the glosses are by Rabbi Eliyahu Paradis whose signature appears at beginning of book. On margins of several glosses, another writer added: “Rabbi Vidal”, apparently this refers to glosses of Rabbi Vidal Ko’inka, father-in-law of Rabbi Eliyahu Paradis. Stamps of Rabbi Naftali Hertz HaLevi Av Beit Din of Jaffa and Rabbi Menachem Mendel son of Rabbi Ya’akov Leib Levy of Jerusalem. The Kabbalist Ga’on Rabbi Vidal Ko’inka (1810-1862, Otzar HaRabbanim 5415) was born in Saloniki and immigrated to Jerusalem and settled there between 1851-1853. Well-known scholar in Jerusalem and proficient in wisdom of Kabbalah, among leaders of "Chesed Kel" Yeshiva. His son-in-law, Rabbi Eliyahu Paradis (or: Paradish – Pardes; 1834-1874, Otzar HaRabbanim 2191), among scholars of Kabbalah in Jerusalem. Born in Aram Tzova, orphaned during his youth and immigrated to Jerusalem alone. Prominent disciple of Kabbalist Rabbi Vidal Ko’inka whose daughter he married. Was known as a holy and abstinent man, who spread Torah. Passed away at a young age as a result of his abstinence. [1], 173 leaves. 32 cm. Fair condition. Moth and mildew damage. Some leaves severely stained.
