Photo-engraved frontispiece portrait of the author, 9 folding lithographed charts (minor repairs to frontispiece and facing errata). Original red printed wrappers, uncut (spine faded). Provenance : Emile Picard (1856-1941), mathematician (signature on front wrapper. FIRST EDITION OF ESNAULT-PELTERIE'S MOST IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTION TO ROCKETRY, PRESENTATION COPY, with the portrait frontispiece with the author's signature found only in presentation copies and printed on the thick paper of higher quality used for presentation copies of this work. Together with the supplement volume, L'astronomique-complment (1934), this includes everything known at the time about rocketry and space-flight. A greatly expanded version of the author's Exploration par fuses (See lot 1060). Norman 715.
