EQUICOLA, Mario (1470-1525) - Libro di natura d’amore. Venice: Pietro di Nicolini da Sabbio, 1536. Fourth edition after the first printed in Venice by Lorenzo Lorio da Portes in 1525. The treatise, dedicated to Isabella d'Este, to whom Equicola was tutor for many years, combines elements derived from Marsilio Ficino with stylnovistic echoes. 8vo (145 x 86mm). Woodcut title within an elaborate border, K6v with woodcut diagram depicting the ideal proportions of the body, with final blank (title lightly cropped, some light foxing, gathering R browned). 18th-century half vellum, dark spine label titles in gilt, blue edges (few tiny wormholes and light scuffing). Provenance: Galletti Library (stamp on title) - Francisci Riccardi de Vernaccia Library (bookplate; 1794-1863, son of Vincenzo and Ortensia del Vernaccia, Marquis, Chamberlain of Grand Duke Ferdinando III of Tuscany).
