The treatise, dedicated to Isabella d'Este, to whom Equicola was tutor for many years, combines elements derived from Marsilio Ficino with stylnovistic echoes. 8vo (145 x 86mm). Woodcut title within an elaborate border, K6v with woodcut diagram depicting the ideal proportions of the body, with final blank (title lightly cropped, some light foxing, gathering R browned). 18th-century half vellum, dark spine label titles in gilt, blue edges (few tiny wormholes and light scuffing). Provenance: Galletti Library (stamp on title) - Francisci Riccardi de Vernaccia Library (bookplate; 1794-1863, son of Vincenzo and Ortensia del Vernaccia, Marquis, Chamberlain of Grand Duke Ferdinando III of Tuscany).
