Large woodcut on title-page; woodcut initials. (folio) 36x25.5 cm. (14¼x10"), 18th century leather-backed boards. The second part (of three) of Saint Hieronymus's Epistolae, a large, well printed edition. Especially notable for the fine woodcut on the title-page, representing Hieronymus kneeling, surrounded by a richly decorated architectural frame. It is signed with the monogram HSK, the famous engraver Hans Springinklee (pupil of Albrecht Durer). Lot Amendments Condition: Spine rubbed, wear to corners; old rubberstamp to title-page right margin, old ink notation in lower margin; some minor aging and occasional light foxing within, very good or better.
