Lot of 2 engraved portraits of Abraham Lincoln. Engraving, 120 x 15.5 in. (sight), framed to 22 x 28 in., of a seated Lincoln dressed in white tie leaning upon a table with a quill in hand, a paper on the table is dated January 1, 1863, a reference to the Emancipation Proclamation, title beneath, "Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States." After a painting by Edward Dalton Marchant (1806-1887), engraved by John Sartain (1808-1897) in Philadelphia, 1864. Possibly the only print representation of Lincoln in white tie. Lithograph, 11.25 x 16 in. (sight), framed to 22.5 x 26.5 in., vignette half-length portrait of Lincoln facing slightly right, title beneath, "Abraham Lincoln." After original by Joseph E. Baker (ca 1837-1914), published by J.H. Bufford & Sons, Boston, ca 1865. Provenance:The Mr. & Mrs. Jack L. Smith Collection of Lincolniana Condition: Engraving - even toning with some scuffs to lower margins Lithograph - tear to upper right corner.
