Provenance: Private collection, BerkshireAs indicated in the Charter of King James I, Wokingham Guildhall was built in circa 1612, but ultimately fell into a state of disrepair and was demolished in 1858. Wokingham Town Hall, designed by prominent Reading architects of the time, W. Poulton and W. Woodman, stands on the site of the former Guildhall, and was opened in 1860 by Richard Neville, the fourth Lord Braybrooke. Depictions of the Guildhall exist only in drawings and paintings, some of which are in the possession of Wokingham Town Council and Virtual Museum.
