Group of 18 silver print photographs, 7 3/4 by 9 3/4 inches through 5 5/8 by 3 1/2 inches, [Beijing, 1910-1920s], some minor wear, but generally excellent condition. Zumbrun was given unprecedented access (for a westerner) to the Forbidden City and the Emperor. Included here appear to be two photographs of Puyi, both taken on stone stairs, one with his friends or advisors, the other by himself and several images relating to the Peking Opera including two portraits of Mei Lanfang. A majority of the photographs are views of the Forbidden City and its landmarks.
