Emblems - Arnhem imprint] - FURMERIUS, Bernardus - Emblemata moralia, et oeconomica, de rerum usu et abusu, olim inventa et Belgicis rithmis explicata a Theodoro Cornhertio rerum politicarum suo tempore, inter Belgas peritissimo; nunc vero varijs carminum generibus recens illustrata a Richardo Lubbaeo Broecmerio Frisio. Arnhem, J. Janssonius for D. Pietersz (Amsterdam), 1609, mod. blindstamped calf “à l’antique” (rubbed), gilt spine on 4 raised bands, cloth ties, [27 (of 28)] ff. (some spotting and marg. dampstaining, sm. hole in 1st f. touching ill., blank bottom margin F3 repaired). Good copy.
Latin trsl. or adaptation by R. Lubbaeus (d. 1651) of the rather free Dutch version by D.V. Coornhert (1522-1590) of "De rerum usu et abusu" (1575) by the Frisian Bernardus Furmerius (1542-1616).
