Didot's Elzevier-style reprint of the exceedingly rare 1681 auction catalogue of the books printed at the Elzeviers' Amsterdam house, which was published one year after Daniel Elzevier's death. The collector Motteley paid Didot for 80 copies to be printed on Holland and 20 copies on large paper. This UNIQUE COPY ON VELLUM was printed for an unidentified noble collector, whose illuminated arms are inserted. The pastiche binding by Niedrée is a masterpiece of finishing, Renaissance on the outside, 18th-century on the inside.
