Elnathan Taber of Roxbury, MA Mahogany Banjo Clock with Alarm. Original 7.5 in. painted iron dial with black Roman hour numerals and period blued steel hands with alarm indicator. Brass 8 day weight driven movement has an anchor escapement, solid brass pulley, leaded weight, brass lockdown hardware and long steel pendulum rod with brass covered bob. Weight driven alarm mechanism is attached to the left side of the movement with alarm bell exposed at the top of the case including original alarm weight. Mahogany wall hanging banjo case has a brass dial door bezel with original flat glass, pierced brass side arms, half round throat and tablet frame with white, yellow and gold lead reverse painted throat glass and lower tablet. Case is in original finish, original painted dial. Stamped number "1158" on the front of the bottom board and back of the lower door; original throat glass has over-painting, replaced tablet. Bottom of the movement has been slightly rotated to accommodate the replaced bell and bell support arm. The metal weight baffle is inscribed "Warrented, Elnathan Taber". 33.5 in. high x 9.75 in. wide x 4 in. deep. Weight: 18.75 lbs.
