ELEVEN VINTAGE BASEBALLS SIGNED AND UNSIGNED Eleven baseballs in very good to excellent condition and showing yellowing due to shellac. Three balls are unsigned two-color stitched American League baseballs, one is a Barnard era and two Harridge era baseballs. Three of the balls are non-team signed balls including an American League Harridge ball signed Best Wishes Charlie A. B. Chandler (7/10) the word Commission is written below his signature in different ink, an International League ball signed Charlie Berry International League Umpire 1941-1942 (8/10) and an American League Harridge ball with details of a baseball game written as follows; Sept. 10, 1942 Charlie Berry White Sox 9 Wash 1 Lyons vs Leonard White Sox Park Chicago (3/10) between two side panels and Bill Simmons Umpire-in-chief (3/10) on the sweet spot. A further inscription nearby is signed first game umpired in A.l. Art Passarella (7/10). The other five baseballs are team signed. Four are on official American League Harridge balls as follows: 1954/55 Red Sox. Signatures grade near 7/10. Ted Williams and Mike Higgens share the sweet spot, a 1955 Baltimore Orioles ball signed by twenty-eight team members with signatures averaging 6/10 and should be noted the ball is misdated "1957" on the sweet spot, a 1955 Kansas City Athletics ball signed by twenty-three members of the team including Lou Boudreau on the sweet spot with signatures grading near 6/10 and this ball also incorrectly dated with "Kansas City 1958" and a 1945 Philadelphia Athletics ball with eighteen signers whose autographs range in scale between 2/10 and 6/10 including Connie Mack (6/10) on the sweet spot, above the notation Phil A's 1945 and Al Simmons (4/10) on a side panel. The last ball is a American League Cronin ball with twenty-one signatures of the 1969 Yankees and averaging 4/10. The ball is signed Mel Stottlemeyer on the sweet spot above the light notation Yankees 1969 and Bobby Murcer on the opposite sweet spot.
