EINSTEIN, Albert (1879-1955). Autograph letter signed to Herr Damrosch, n.p., 13 June [19]38 , referring to a visit from Herr Bodky who has told him the results of his research into the manner of presenting compositions as intended by the composer, which Einstein finds as surprising as it is convincing, declaring that it would be wonderful if this led to Bach's music being given new life and freed from the errors in the revised editions, 'Es wäre wohl wunderbar, wenn die Bach'sche Musik in solcher Weise neu belebt und von den Irrsinnern späterer Bearbeitung gereinigt werden könnte', written on lined paper, one page, 8° (small splits at folds). Einstein's correpondent is Walter Damrosch (1862-1950), the conductor, educationalist and composer, and Erwin Bodsky was the author of Der Votrag alter Klaviermusik (Berlin, 1832).
