Foxwell purchased their collection from the late 1890s until the early 1920s, acquiring from the Forman collection (sold by Sotheby's in 1900), and the Mc Gregor Collection (sold by Sotheby's in 1922), and the Clements collection in 1923 and thence by descent; believed to have been excavated by Flinders Petrie.
