Cincinnati: Stereotyped and Published by J.A. James & Co., 1836. First edition, 12mo, with engraved folding Map of Texas Containing the Latest Grants & Discoveries by E.F. Lee bound opposite title with hand-colored outline (partially split along central horizontal fold); final leaf of publisher's ads present, facsimile of the paraph of the signature of General Martin Perfecto de Cos on page 246; light foxing throughout, including endpapers; bound in full contemporary textured tan cloth, neatly rebacked, portion of original spine replaced, original yellow paper label present, contents crisp, Philadelphia ticket of Kay & Brother Booksellers pasted inside the front board, 7 1/4 x 4 1/4 in. David Edward was born in Scotland. He traveled first to South America, before he "steered [his] course to the States of the North." He arrived just before the revolution and makes many detailed observations regarding the climate, geography, natural resources, and culture of Texas, including chapters on Native People, and Mexican inhabitants of Texas.
