Lot of 25 stereoviews by C.C. Curtis, each on a standard size orange mount with his Traver, Cal., imprint on recto, and his hand stamp, inked titles, and the hand stamp of Iron Hill, Quebec dealer M. Ross on verso. Subjects are mostly the giant sequoias of Tulare County, including one view of General Sherman, which is currently recognized as the largest tree in the world, and many shots include loggers. Mautz (1997:92) notes that Curtis was a member of the Kaweah Colony, an early socialist community formed in the giant sequoia grove, which unsuccessfully attempted to rename the aforementioned tree "Karl Marx." Condition: Edge wear. Half a dozen are creased between the views.
