(Early Printing) 1 Vol. (Magnus, Olaus, Archbishop of Uppsala). [Historia de gentibus septentrioalibus]. [Rome: de Viottis, 1555]. First edition. Folio, 18th century boards, vellum spine and corners; scuffed, vellum often blistered, modern endpapers. Incomplete, lacking the 42 preliminary leaves (including the title page) and the last (blank?) leaf. With full page woodcut map of Scandinavia, 470 (of 472) woodcut illustrations - including 3 (of 4) full-page woodcuts, decorated initials. Internally generally clean, light creasing to map of Scandinavia - its gutter margin showing a little wear, a few leaves toned, occasional staining in blank margins, paper losses in blank margins of leaf a1, other small paper faults to a few leaves, early ink ownerships on leaf a1 recto. With colophon (showing old ink annotations and paper fault in blank bottom margin). Leaf size, 280 mm. 1-814 p., a4, b-g, H-Z, AA-ZZ, AAA-XXX6, YYY7, missing leaves A-G and YYY8. Blind library stamp at bottom fore edge corner of leaf I4. Sold with all faults. Adams M-140; Brunet III, 1302; Sabin 43830.
