DUBOURG, Matthew. Views of the Remains of Ancient Buildings in Rome, and its Vicinity . London: for J. Taylor, 1820. 2° (396 x 298mm). 26 hand-coloured aquatint plates by Dubourg. Half-title. (Slight offsetting and a few light spots to some plates, right hand margin of plate 13, showing the Coliseum, heaily soiled and affected by 2 short tears, lighter marginal soiling to other plates, also to parts of text.) Mid 19th-century half calf (spine with small, neat repairs, upper joints rubbed). FIRST EDITION. The plates do not have a wash border as in the Abbey copy. Abbey notes that the first edition has superior colouring to the second, also dated 1820 but actually printed 1838 or later. Abbey Travel 180.
