Historia plantarum...Simplicium medicamentorum facultates, secundum Locos & genera, ex Dioscoride, Paris: widow of Gabriel Cotier 1567. 16mo., 118 x 76mm. contemporary limp vellum, small leather index tab affixed to fore-margin of first page of Simplicium section, a few quires lightly browned . Second edition of DuPinet's condensed compilation from Matthioli and other authors, title within elaborate woodcut border (a diffeerent block than that used in the 1561 edition), numerous small botanical woodcuts printed one to the page. Baudrier IV, pp.78-79; Durling 1328; Hunt 100; Nissen 565; Pritzel 2539. Provenance : Indistinct sixteenth-century German owner's name at base of titlepage -- Marginalia (plant names) in a later German hand on some pages; biographical note on Matthioli in the same hand on back pastedown.
