Drawing - Italian school] - [ The Descent from the Cross ], s.d. Black ink and pen, black chalk, some small touches of white gouache, brown tinted laid paper 33 x 23 cm; not signed. Stuck by upper corners under passe-partout. Underlaid, completely and skilfully restored, right part, upper left corner and 3 other spots of the drawing lacking and replaced.
Christ is handed from the cross by two figures above, one of whom is removing nails from his palm, and two on ladders propped on either side of the cross. The three Marys attend the swooning Virgin below. In spite of the condition, beautiful finely executed drawing divided into squares. After an engraving of Marcantonio Raimondi after Raphael.
