DOPPELMAYR, Johann Gabriel (1677-1750). Globi Coelestis in Tabulas Planas Redacti Pars I. -Pars II. -Pars III. -Pars IV. -Pars V. -Pars VI. Nuremberg: Johann Baptist Homann, 1730. Set of 6 double-page engraved celestial charts, images approximately 488 x 580 mm (visible area approximately 501 x 585 mm), with hand-coloring stars in gilt, matted and framed (not examined out of frame). A fine set of Doppelmayr's constellation charts, taken from his Atlas Coelestis, published by Homann's Heirs in 1742. Doppelmayr relied on Hevelius's constellation images, and referred to Pardies for the historical paths of comets. He includes additional comets that appeared after Pardies' time, including the comet of 1684 as observed by Bianchini, and the comet of 1706, as observed by Cassini. Estimate $4,000-5,000
